The Manufacturing Process Behind Clear Plastic Cylinders

Step 1: Material Selection – PET or RPET
We begin with plastic sheet stock made from either:
- PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) – Virgin, food-grade plastic
- RPET (Recycled PET) – Post-consumer recycled content, still food-safe when certified
Both materials are lightweight, transparent, and recyclable — ideal for retail packaging.
Step 2: Sheet Cutting and Preparation
Large sheets of PET or RPET are precision-cut into the correct height for the final cylinder. This ensures consistency and eliminates material waste.
The plastic sheets are then prepared for forming by cleaning and inspecting for clarity or imperfections.
How Are Clear Plastic Cylinders Made?
Clear cylinders are made by cutting PET or RPET sheets, then curling and welding them into shape. End caps are added, and the product is quality-checked — creating strong, recyclable, retail-ready packaging.
Step 3: Curling and Welding the Cylinder Body
Each sheet is curled into a cylinder shape and sealed along a vertical seam using heat or ultrasonic welding. This forms the rigid tube without compromising transparency.
Key focus points:
- Seam must be airtight and visually clean
- Diameter and height must meet strict tolerances
Step 4: End Cap Forming and Application
Top and bottom end caps can be:
- Thermoformed PET or RPET
- Coloured plastic or foil-laminated for design impact

Step 5: Branding and Decoration
Cylinders can be customised using:
- Printed sleeves or belly bands
- Stickers or foil stamping
- Embossed inserts

Each finished cylinder undergoes:
- Visual inspection for clarity and seams
